Rustam Minnikhanov: We are interested in attracting Canadian business to Tatarstan

On September 27, during a working visit of Tatarstan delegation to Canada (September 25-27), Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the Tatarstan-Canada business forum in Toronto.  

Welcoming representatives of the Canadian business, Minnikhanov expressed his confidence that despite complicated political situation relations between Russia and Canada will remain constructive.

“The international political climate will surely be back to normal. Our task is to give a right signal to business. I would like to thank leaders of our countries for their support of joint projects at the regional level. We hope that our current visit will give a new impetus to the development of cooperation between our countries,” Minnikhanov said.

We are interested in attracting the Canadian business and capital to Tatarstan and will be happy to expand our mutually beneficial ties, he pointed out.

Tatarstan has experience of doing business with the Canadian business community. The agreement on cooperation between Tatarstan and Quebec province has come into effect. Pratt&Wittney and Bombardier are long-term partners of the republic in aircraft building and engine technology. Tatneft oil company have contacts with Canadian companies in the sphere of heavy oil production techniques.

According to Tatarstan President, the potential for developing cooperation in such areas as oil processing and pethrochemicals, machine-building, aircraft-building, IT and high technology, energy-saving, construction and infrastructure projects, medicine and pharmaceuticals, agriculture, etc. is great.

“We will be glad to see you in Tatatstan and hope for fruitful cooperation,” Minnikhanov added.

Minister of Industry and Trade of the republic Albert Karimon, Minister of Information and Communication of the Republic Roman Shaykhutdinov and Chief Executive of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minnulina told in details about economic, industrial and investment potential of the republic, as well as IT projects being implemented in Tatarstan.
