Rustam Minnikhanov meets with Nike company representatives

The Republic of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met with representatives of Nike Russia on Wednesday. Potential cooperation in promoting sports and encouraging grassroots sports was discussed at the meeting.
According to Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan capital – Kazan is by right considered to be Russia’s sports capital. Sports teams from Tatarstan are well-known in Russia and beyond its borders in such sports as ice hockey, football, volleyball, etc. Kamaz-Master team again became the winner of the Dakar rally recently.
Kazan will host participants and guests of the World Summer Sports Student Games (the Universiade) in 2013, Rustam Minnikhanov reminded. Moreover, in 2018 the football world championship matches will take place in Tatarstan capital. Tatarstan President offered Nike to establish long-term mutually beneficial cooperation.
Nike company's products are produced using the most modern technologies, General Manager of Nike Russia Eric Cuenot informed. Sportsmen – world-wide known “stars” are invited to advertise the company, he said.
According to Eric Cuenot, at present Nike is brand No.1 in the world, while it is on the second place in the Russian Federation. The company has intentions to consolidate its positions in Russia, Eric Kuenot added. He thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for vested confidence and a proposal to cooperate.
The meeting took place at the Tatarstan Government House. Tatarstan Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism Rafis Burganov, chief of the Universiade-2013 Executive Directorate Vladimir Leonov, RT President’s aide Iskander Muflikhanov and other officials took part in it.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
On May 14, Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda, who arrived on a working visit in Kazan to take part in the events of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, was met by Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin and other officials at the Kazan International Airport.
On 9 May Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a ceremony of laying flowers to the monument “The victorious soldier” dedicated to the celebrations of the Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WW II) 1941-1945 and held at Arsk cemetery in Kazan.
