On October 17, during his two-day working visit to Minsk, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with activists of Tatar public organizations of the Republic of Belarus.
Opening the meeting with compatriots, Chairman of Executive Committee of the World Congress of Tatars Rinat Zakirov briefed about the work the Congress is doing with Tatar public organizations around the world.
Welcoming the meeting, Minnikhanov noted that representatives of the Tatar community facilitate the development of cooperation between Tatarstan and Belarus. He thanked them for preserving traditions, customs, the native language and culture living far away from their homeland.
The president said that he is sure that the Tatars, living in Belarus, will continue to promote the expansion of relations between Belarus and Tatarstan, contribute to the strengthening of relations between the two countries and peoples.
During the meeting, Minnikhanov invited everyone to visit Tatarstan. Interesting tourist routes have been opened in the republic recently, including those relating to the history and religion of the Tatars, he said.
He invited the Tatar youth of Belarus to take part in various youth Muslim festivals, which are held in Tatarstan.
