On October 18, during his working trip to Minsk, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko at his residence – the Palace of Independence.

Opening the meeting, Lukashenko said that people in Belarus know about Tatarstan and follow its dynamic development. “We are glad to hear about Tatarstan achievements in economy, industry, attraction of investments. Today your region is the example to follow for many people,” he said.

He continued that industry, construction and innovations should become the main areas of economic cooperation between Belarus and Tatarstan.

Speaking about cooperation in oil and gas sector, Lukashenko suggested attracting Belorusneft for working in Tatarstan’s oil industry, and mentioned cooperation with Tatneft Oil Company that opened petrol stations in Belarus.

Production of tractors at Yelabuga automotive plant and assembly production at Kazan elevator building plant are important bilateral projects. Supplies of passenger, freight, and road machinery can also facilitate the revival of trade turnover.

It was noted that the high level of cooperation in different spheres shows the example for developing cooperation with other regions as well as interstate relations between Russia and Belarus.

Rustam Minnikhanov thanked for a warm reception of the Tatarstan delegation and noted that all mentioned spheres have huge potential, especially cooperation in oil production.
