First Vice-premier of Russia cited Kazan as an example of region with multiethnic and multi-confessional population

The capital of Tatarstan-Kazan is a positive example of how a multiethnic and multi-confessional Russian region may be attractive for foreign investments. This was announced today by First deputy chairman of Russian Government Igor Shuvalov in Davos (Switzerland).

Speaking at World economic forum within the limits of morning session “Russia is on the way to modernization” , First Vice-premier of Russia presented his view of further development of the country. In particular, it implies focus on economy based on innovations and education and transfer from resources-based economy. In opinion of Igor Shuvalov, people make major capital in the country, thus the priority objective in Russia is creation of comfortable conditions for people’s life.

First Vice-premier suggested potential investors to focus on positive tendencies of the country and trust people working in business sphere. He emphasized that today investors know the most economically developed Russian regions, Moscow and St.Petersburg and those regions which are notable for stable economy and investments. In particular, it is Kazan with its multiethnic population. In the centre of a city there are a Mosque and Orthodox Church, people of different nationalities are friendly to each other, Igor Shuvalov said.He also reminded that the Head of this region, President of republic Rustam Minnikhanov also takes part in work of World economic Forum in Davos.
