Rustam Minnikhanov: Tatarstan and Republic of Korea have potential for expanding cooperation

On December 13, at Tatarstan Government House, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with South Korean Ambassador to Russia Pak Ro-byug.

The Korean delegation arrived on a two-day working visit in Tatarstan yesterday. Today Ambassador Pak Ro-byug and representatives of small and medium-sized South Korean businesses will take part in the seminar "Eurasian Partnership in the field of technology and innovation" to be held at the Korston Hotel and Entertainment Complex in Kazan.

Welcoming the guests, Minnikhanov thanked the Ambassador for his active interest in Tatarstan. The Republic of Korea is one of the world's largest economies and has an impressive industrial, technological and scientific potential, he went on to say.

Minnikhanov emphasized that Tatarstan has good experience of cooperation with South Korean partners. He reminded about his visit to Seoul in June this year, during which official meetings with representatives of the country's leaders and Tatarstan-Korean business forum were held.

Tatarstan and South Korea are cooperating in a number of fields, including petrochemistry and oil refining, information and communications, health care, etc. According to Minnikhanov, Tatarstan and South Korea have great potential for developing relations, in such areas as power engineering, machine-building, automotive industry, production of automotive components, high technologies, infrastructure projects and construction, medicine and pharmaceuticals, agriculture and sport.

Thanking Minnikhanov for excellent organization of the visit of the South Korean delegation to Kazan, Park Ro-byug expressed his confidence that the fruitful cooperation between Tatarstan and the Republic of Korea will continue to be constructive and successful.

Minister of Information and Communications of the republic Roman Shaikhutdinov, CEO of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minnulina, Minister of Transport and Roads of the republic Lenar Safin and other officials took part in the meeting.
