Rustam Minnikhanov discuss issues of cooperation with former Prime Minister of Malaysia

March, 10. President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov met with former Prime Minister of Malaysia Makhatkhir Mokhamad in Moscow. Tatarstan was presented by Aide to RT President Iskander Muflikhanov and Chairman on developing small and medium entrepreneurship Linar Yakupov.
Rustam Minnikhanov got acquainted with Dr Makhatkhir Mokhamad in June 2010 in Kazan at international summit of Islamic business and finances. An official visit of RT President to Malaysia took place in December 2010. In the course of visit meetings with prominent political figures and representatives of Malaysian companies were held.
By words of Aide to RT President Iskander Muflikhanov, projects of Tatarstan and Malaysia are being intensively realized. These are joint projects on “KAMAZ”, shipbuilding plant named after A.M.Gorki (Zelenodolsk region). On finishing the meeting, Iskander Muflikhanov told that Tatarstan enterprises are interested in purchasing palm oil input of high quality.
Malaysia and Tatarstan cooperate in educational sphere. In January 2011 Malaysian students started training at Kazan state medical university. Malaysian educational exhibition will be held in Kazan on April 8-9 2011. Officials of Malaysian universities, ministry of education will take part in the event. There issues of cooperation between Malaysia and Tatarstan in educational sector will be discussed. Moreover, in the mid-April Tatarstan specialists will visit Malaysia to explore issues of Islamic finance and banking.
Necessity of air service between Kazan and capital of Malaysia Kuala Lumpur was debated likewise at the meeting. Technical and economic grounds of this issue are being worked out currently.
Makhatkhir Mokhamad held a post of Malaysian Prime Minister from 1981 to 2003. During his governance Malaysia turned from the country with poorly developed agrarian economy into one of “Asian tigers”. Due to his efforts new economic policy and national policy of development were successfully implemented in the country. Currently the strategy of turning Malaysia into modern, high-tech state is being realized.
On 24 December Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a charity action “The Christmas Tree of Wishes” held during the 17th session of the State Council of the republic of the seventh convocation.
The Head of the Government of the republic will fulfill wishes of five-year old Landysh who dreams of a guitar, 13-year old Zariva who will get a smart speaker, eight-year old Leyla dreaming of a bike and 16-year old Evelina who will be given an e-book.
On 20 December, speaking at a meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the First Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and House Utilities Sector of the republic Damir Shaydullin informed that huge work in capital overhaul of 713 social and cultural facilities have been completed in the republic with the total cost of work of 15bn rubles.
On 20 December, in his address on the occasion of the Russian Security Bodies Officers Day, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated employees and old stagers of the service with their professional holiday and wrote: “
Throughout the history of our state, security agencies have stood guard over national interests of Russia and protected the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. Your high professionalism, courage and dedication to duty are a reliable shield against external and internal threats.
On 15 December, speaking at a meeting of the competition committee of the regional public competition “The Manager of the Year” about its results in 2025, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the list of 155 participants (nominees), who are heads of enterprises and organizations from various industries and sectors of the economy, for the competition was formed based on recommendations from regional ministries and departments, city and district municipalities, employers' associations and the Federation of Trade Unions of the republic.
