On January 12, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in plenary discussion at Gaidar Forum-2017 “Russia and the world: setting priorities”.
Chairman of the Russian Government Dmitry Medvedev addressed the audience with the welcoming speech. He said that the forum is an effective platform where Russian and international experts meet to discuss the most urgent problems and risks faced by the global economy, regions and countries.
Medvedev noted that Russia has passed through crisis better than it was expected, but however, not all problems have been solved.
“We should start reforming the economy with the dominating raw materials sector, and when the prices for raw materials are quite low. Therefore, we will make all decisions connected with structural changes very carefully and take necessary supporting measures,” Medvedev said.
Medvedev continued that the upgrade of technologies and professional qualifications is important, too. “I believe that the risk of technological inferiority is one of the biggest challenges faced by our economy. We should discuss it and make decisions. Moreover, we should develop competition, decrease excess presence of the state in economy, increase investment attractiveness of regions and reform the system of public administration,” Dmitry Medvedev said.
