On January 20, during his stay in Kazan, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu visited production facilities of the Gorbunov Kazan Aviation Factory – branch of Tupolev PJSC.
The factory's management reported Shoigu on execution of state defence orders. In particular, he was told on the construction of various modifications of Tu-214 aircrafts for the Russian Defence Ministry.
Sergei Shoigu was also informed on measures being taken to modernize Tu-160 strategic bombers and Tu-22M3 long-range bombers, and demonstrated unique lines for machining and welding of large-size titanium castings.
Moreover, the Minister got acquainted with the course of preparation of facilities for production of a new Tu-160M2 aircraft.
Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Deputy Russian Defence Minister Yury Borisov, President of United Aircraft Corporation Yury Slyusar, Director General of Tupolev PJSC Alexander Konyukhov and other officials accompanied the Minister.
