On January 20, at Piramida Entertainment Complex in Kazan, a concert dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the First President of the Republic of Tatarstan, State Counsellor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev was held.
Russian Presidential Envoy of Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Prime Minister of the republic Ildar Khalikov, Chairman of State Council of the republic Farid Mukhametshin, First President of Ingushetia Ruslan Aushev, Head of the Republic of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, a politician and the former mayor of Moscow Yuri Luzhkov and other officials took part in the event.
Babich congratulated Shaimiev on his anniversary. "It can be said without exaggeration that Mintimer Shaimiev has firmly taken his place in the history of our country. He dedicated his entire life, work and state service to Tatarstan,” Babich said.
According to him, one of the greatest achievements of Mintimer Shaimiev is his team, which includes "highly professional, competent and very decent people who love their republic and country."
Babich called inter-ethnic and inter-religious peace and harmony a distinctive feature of Tatarstan. "Today, it has become the hallmark of your republic. And being the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Revival Foundation, you have preserved and restored our two holy places - Great Bolgar and island town of Sviyazhsk," he said.
Head of the Republic of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Yevkurov also congratulated Mintimer Shaimiev. "On behalf of the people of Ingushetia I would like to thank you for your overall support. It was Tatarstan that among the first supported our country during the most difficult times. It' is worth much,” he emphasized.
