Rustam Minnikhanov: Stable development of our society depends on accurate and competent actions of prosecutors

On January 23, at a session of the Tatarstan prosecutor’s office on summarizing results of work in 2016 and setting tasks for the current year, President of the republic Rustam Minnikhanov said that stable development of our society depends on accurate and competent actions of prosecutors.

He noted that Tatarstan prosecutor’s office together with state authorities, municipalities and law enforcement agencies took major efforts on consolidation of the statehood, observation of constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens, and increasing efficiency of crimes prevention.

In current complicated economic conditions the priority activities of the institution are supervision over timely payment of wages and different benefits.

Problems of hoodwinked investors are being solved, and more than one thousand families have finally obtained housing.

The president also drew attention of prosecutor’s office and National bank on strengthening of control over commercial banks in order to prevent the situation which happened in the previous year and mitigate risks of investors.

Maintenance payment is another urgent problem, and the amount payable is still big. Rustam Minnikhanov believes that it is a serious social problem that always requires help of prosecutor’s office.

Focusing on anti-corruption work, Minnikhanov noted that 64 criminal cases were opened and 20,000 legal acts were inspected in the previous year. He continued that the prosecutor’s office plays a special role in preservation of inter-ethnic and inter-confessional peace in the republic.

According to the president, fulfillment of powers in counteracting extremism and terrorism by state authorities should be regularly inspected, and work on prevention of funding of terrorist groups should be continued.
