Ildar Khalikov: Issues of ecological safety will always be priority ones

On January 25, at a joint session of the Tatarstan Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Natural Resource Use in the Republic of Tatarstan, Prime Minister of the republic Ildar Khalikov said that issues of ecological safety would always be priority ones.

The Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the republic Farid Abdulganiev said that based on the results of control and supervisory measures, more than7,000 violations were revealed, 97 per cent of which were corrected. Administrative fines for the sum of 143 mln roubles were imposed and 24 criminal cases were opened.

In the year of water protection areas all regional water objects were inspected.

It was noted that two thousand unauthorized landfills were found, and 98 per cent of them were abandoned.

Specialists of the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Natural Resource Use inspected 1200 km of the waterside of the Kuybyshev Reservoir.

Khalikov positively estimated the work of the agencies in 2016 and noted that all existing resources should be enhanced in the current year of ecology and public spaces.

The Prime Minister informed that two projects on rehabilitation of the biggest landfills, Samosyrovo (Kazan) and Togaevskaya (Naberezhnye Chelny) are being implemented.

Speaking about urgent problems, Khalikov mentioned the growth of toxic blue-green algae in regional basins and necessary modernization of monitoring systems. He also highly estimated the outreach efforts.
