Swiss bank Credit Suisse may search for large investors for Tatarstan

One of the world’s largest banks, Credit Suisse, could attract big investment projects in Tatarstan. President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov has today made the offer to Credit Suisse executives at a meeting at the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers. Attendees at the meeting were economy minister M. Shagiakhmetov and director of President of Tatarstan Department of External Relations and aide to President of Tatarstan on international affairs I. Muflikhanov.
Welcoming the guests, R. Minnikhanov said the republic had a vast experience in cooperating with Credit Suisse. Taif and Ak Bars bank are some companies cooperating with the bank. “We are interested in further cooperation,” Tatarstan President enhanced.
The Credit Suisse director for Europe, Middle East and Africa Kiriyakos-Saad Fawzi remarked on the bank’s effective cooperation with Tatarstan. “We are ready to continue offering to the republic all types of services - financial, consulting and investment,” Mr Fawzi said.
According to the Credit Suisse EMEA chief, the interest in investing in Russia in the world is substantial, for investors see great prospects here. The Credit Suisse delegates pledged to examine some larger projects implemented in Tatarstan in which the bank could participate.
R. Minnikhanov suggested the bank attracted investors to Tatarstan. “Us running projects is one thing but on the other hand you could look for a foreign investor who would be willing to land in Russia”, he told the guests.
Foreign investors could be interested in building auto component production and polymer processing facilities in the republic. The special economic zone Alabuga offers great opportunities for larger businesses.
Tatarstan’s chief executive confirmed the authorities’s willingness to provide privileges to larger investors. “I am prepared to meet with your larger investors in person. You have many contacts outside Russia, it is important for us,” R. Minnikhanov said.
Kiriyakos-Saad Fawzi welcomed the proposal, pledging to bring a list of potential investors next time he comes to Tatarstan. Besides, Credit Suisse will consider arranging a special investment conference where businessmen could get first-hand knowledge of the Tatarstan’s potential, the President of Tatarstan’s press service reports.

On 24 April in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin held a joint meeting the Council for Enforcement of Legislation of Languages of Tatarstan and the organizational committee for celebrations of the 140th birthday of Gabdulla Tukay which summarized results of work of the regional law enforcement on official languages of the republic and considered progress of the implementation of the plan of main events for preparation and celebration of the 140th birthday of Gabdulla Tukay .
On 21 April, speaking at a briefing in the Government House of the republic, the Head of the Russian Federal Tax Service for Tatarstan Marat Safiullin said that slightly more than one week is left to file an income tax return for 2025 with the tax service. According to the results of the tax campaign 5.5.bn rubles should come to the regional budget, he said and informed who should submit declarations and who is entitled to benefits.
