11 March 2017, Saturday

On March 11, speaking at a plenary session of the 6th All-Russian meeting of entrepreneurs from Tatar villages at the Kortson Entertainment Complex, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that despite difficulties in the economy, business in Tatar villages has withstood and continues to develop.

Prior to the meeting Minnikhanov looked around a sales exhibition organized by Tatar agricultural producers. In particular, various kinds of halal products, meat and dairy products, local arts and crafts goods were presented there.

Speaking at the meeting, entrepreneurs raised a number of topical issues, including overcoming administrative barriers, difficulties in selling finished products and searching for new markets, participation in programmes of state support to develop rural businesses, leaving villages for big cities, etc. Some speakers told about the history of the formation of their enterprises.

Welcoming participants of the meeting, Minnikhanov noted that the village is the backbone of the Tatar culture and traditions. It is impossible to preserve the language, religion and customs, the foundation of the Tatar national identity, without supporting the villages, he said.

"At the moment, there are dozens of socially-oriented programmes, many of which are aimed at supporting villages and creating decent living conditions for the villagers in the republic. Every year their number is increasing. We are mastering new areas and the entrepreneurship development in particular. Today, the republic is carrying out major repairs of cow-houses and vegetable stores, measures to support family farms, personal subsidiary farms are provided," Minnikhanov said.

He continued that roads, gas and water supply lines, cultural and health facilities are being built  in order people stay in villages. According to Minnikhanov, this year it is planned to install modular shops in 56 settlements of the republic with a population of more than 100 people. There are mobile shops to provide dwellers with basic goods in small villages, he added.

Tatarstan President stressed that the main thing for a village is to have jobs for its dwellers. Entrepreneurs are making a great contribution to solving this task, creating work opportunities in their factories and agricultural enterprises.

"This forum is an excellent platform, which needs to be further developed. If we do not communicate, interact, adopt experience, we have a risk to lose all our ties, our unity. In its turn, Tatarstan will support you and render overall assistance in solving certain issues. Together we can achieve much more," he summed up.

At the end of the event Minnikhanov handed in state awards of the Republic of Tatarstan and Letters of gratitude of Tatarstan President to the best Tatar businessmen.
