Rustam Minnikhanov at the Forum of the Central Union of Consumer Cooperatives of Russia: Consumer cooperation is solving very important tasks today

On April 21, speaking at the conference "Cooperation and Economy of Sustainable Development. Challenges and Solutions", Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that over the last ten years enterprises of the Union of Consumer Cooperation Organizations of the republic have increased the volume of procuring activity by 15 times.

The conference is held as part of the Forum of the Central Union of Consumer Cooperatives of the Russian Federation at the Korston Entertainment Complex in Kazan.

The forum is aimed at discussing prospects for the development of cooperation and demonstrating existing achievements. Representatives of 70 regions of the country are taking part in it.

According to Minnikhanov, consumer cooperation is solving very important tasks today. We understand that there is no other similar structure in the country, therefore it is necessary to support the system of consumer cooperation, he said.

Raising consumer cooperation services to a qualitatively new level is one of the main areas in the activity, Minnikhanov said.

"Last year, the volume of retail trade turnover in the system of consumer cooperation of the republic amounted to about 10 billion roubles. However, there is still a lot of potential. The task has been set to service the rural population at the city level," he stressed.

During the conference, an agreement was signed between the Central Union of Consumer Cooperatives of the Russian Federation, Tatarstan and the Union of Consumer Cooperation Organizations of the republic on social and economic cooperation for 2017-2021.

​Chairman of the Council of the Central Union of Consumer Cooperatives of the Russian Federation Dmitry Zubov, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Akhmetov, Governor of Ulyanovsk region Sergey Morozov, Chairman of the Union of Consumer Cooperation Organizations of the Republic of Tatarstan Makhmut Fattakhov and others officials took part in the forum.
