Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in XVII Federal Sabantui in Astrakhan

On May 13, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the XVII Federal Sabantui in Astrakhan.

Before the official opening of the holiday Rustam Minnikhanov and Governor of Astrakhan region Alexander Zhilkin visited the exhibition – fair of arts and crafts of the Republic of Tatarstan. Minnikhanov told about traditional Tatar crafts.

The guests were met by representatives of 44 Russian regions, who came to Astrakhan to take part in Sabantui.

In his welcoming speech Rustam Minnikhanov welcomed everyone and thanked leadership of the region for the support in organization of the Federal Sabantui.

He noted that the holiday will be celebrated in 59 Russian regions and 32 foreign countries this year.

Alexander Zhilkin said that Tatarstan and Astrakhan region are united by strong friendly relations.

Rustam Minnikhanov handed in state awards of the Republic of Tatarstan to citizens of Astrakhan region for their contribution to the preservation and development of the Tatar culture.
