On May 18, in the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors of foreign countries to Russia.

Diplomats arrived in the capital of Tatarstan to take part in the ninth International Economic Summit "Russia – the Islamic World: KazanSummit 2017".

Minnikhanov thanked the delegates for their attention paid to Tatarstan and participation in the KazanSummit 2017 forum.

He stressed that today systematic work is being carried out with partners from the Muslim countries, members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and as part of the activity of the Strategic Vision Group "Russia – the Islamic World". This organization was set up by the order of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin with the aim of developing Russia's cooperation with the Islamic world. Yesterday, on the 17th May 17, the third meeting of the Group took place in the city of Grozny.

Tatarstan is actively working to strengthen external relations, Minnikhanov noted. He said that every year the Tatarstan delegation visits about 30 foreign countries, including Muslim states. More than 100 foreign official and business delegations visit Tatarstan.

"We hold meetings and arrange various forums to bring our positions closer. Tatarstan is working closely with Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Iran, and Bahrain. It is important for us to find common interests, including the promotion of products, attraction of investments, participation in joint projects and much more," Tatarstan President said.

He noted that the International Economic Summit "Russia – the Islamic World: KazanSummit 2017" is a unique platform for a dialogue between Russia and foreign partners. "Today, a reliable platform has been set up here, but how it will function greatly depends on your work," Minnikhanov addressed Ambassadors.
