29 May 2017, Monday

On May 29, in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Prime Minister of the republic Alexey Pesoshin, Chairman of Tatarstan State Council Farid Mukhametshin, heads of regional ministries and agencies took part in a meeting of Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers on independent assessment of the quality of education and holding of corporate championships of WorldSkills standards.

According to the results of the WorldSkills Russia-2017 National Competition, which was held in Krasnodar from May 15 to 19, Tatarstan team took the second place in the team rating, having won 31 medals of various dignity.  The regional team competed in 60 of 109 skills presented at the national championship. The team from Moscow won the championship.

"Our ministries together with the Centre for the Development of Professional Competences are conducting a detailed analysis of the reasons for the unsuccessful performance of our students in a number of competencies," Fattakhov said.

"We are building resource centres, equipping educational facilities. What is the point of spending such money without getting a result? And this is only the Russian championship. How will we compete at the world level?" Minnikhanov addressed the ministers present.

First Deputy Minister of Informatization and Communication of the republic Dmitry Vandyukov was one of the first ministers criticized by Tatarstan President for the work of his agency in terms of WorldSkills.

"I think that your resource centre set up at the Kazan technical college of information communication technologies is the most investment intensive. How much did we invest? We invested 105 million. And what is the result? The problem is that there are too many talks up in the air. The number of trained specialists means nothing without the participation of our enterprises,” Minnikhanov said.

Fattakhov also told the ministers about enterprises that did not buy necessary equipment to take part in the WorldSkills training programme. In response to a question from Minnikhanov about the reasons for the refusal of the purchase, representatives of the enterprises explained that the problem will be eliminated soon.
