The situation with drugs turnover in Tatarstan is characterized by increase in number of sorts of narcotic drugs. Such information was given at a briefing in RT Cabinet dedicated to International Day Against Drug Abuse And Illicit Trafficking.
According to Head of Directorate of Federal service for control over drugs trafficking on RT Fayaz Shabaev for five months 2011 the Directorate registered 685 crimes connected with drugs trafficking. The amount of seized drugs increased four times in comparison with the last year’s rates. Natural drugs (marijuana and hashish) make the largest part of total volume. At the same time, by words of F. Shabaev, there is a tendency of increase in number of synthetic drugs. New kinds of drugs sold as household chemicals make a third of total revealed volume of drugs.
Head of operational search unit at RT Ministry of interiors Aleksey Zavgorodnev emphasized that not all new sorts of drugs are identified in a human body during medical examination. By his words current methods do not allow identifying presence of 14 kinds of substances recognized as narcotic. Thus, even if the state of drug intoxication is evident employees of law enforcement agencies cannot prove the fact.
Head of Tatarstan customs Albert Mavlikov reported on fight against import of chewing tobacco “nasvai”. He noted that though it is not recognized as narcotic substance, data of medical investigation speak about psychological and physical abuse and serious health hazard.
Head doctor of Republican drug abuse clinic Farit Fattakhov informed that currently 10 000 people are registered with diagnosis drug addiction. 9 000 people taking drugs are under prophylactic observation. Annual rates of increase in amount of drug addicts make 2-3 %.
Chief of Department for anti-drug work at RT Cabinet Raziya Sadykova cited data by which the number of people dying because of overdose is decreasing.
On 14 February, speaking at a meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Director of the Fund “The Institute of the Development of Tatarstan Cities” Nailya Nagumanova informed that 561 courtyards are to be improve within the Our Yard programme in the republic in 2026.

On February 3, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a ceremony of opening XXI All-Russia competitions in fire-rescue sports for the Cup of the Tatarstan Prime Minister, held in the gym of the Chief Department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for Tatarstan with participation of 21 teams from various regions of Russia - a total of about 430 people.
On 31 January, speaking at a meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and all municipality regions taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Damir Shaydullin reported that capital overhaul of nine school in eight municipalities of the republic has started.
