Rustam Minnikhanov: Tatarstan to intensify work with compatriots living outside republic

“Tatarstan to intensify work with compatriots living outside republic in all areas”, - RT President Rustam Minnikhanov stated at the II Congress of compatriots - graduates of Russian universities working in Russia and abroad.
The event is held on June,30 – July,1 2011 in Kazan (GTRK “Korston”) with participation of more than 600 people. Kazan has become the second city to host the forum.
Head of RF Ministry of education and science Andrei Fursenko, President of International Russian-Speaking Academic Science Association Vyacheslav Safarov, representatives of RF Ministry of foreign affairs, state corporation “Rosnano”, heads of leading scientific and educational centres. Among congress participants are 70 graduates of Russian universities working abroad and 40 graduates working in Russia.
The event was initiated by RF Ministry of education and science, RT Ministry of education and science, Federal state institution “Research institute of expertise” under the auspices of RF Ministry of foreign affairs, development funds at the Centre of innovations and commercialization “Skolkovo” and “Russian world”.
The forum is mainly aimed at uniting compatriots living abroad for working on joint projects and integration of Russian science and education into world scientific-educational sphere.
By words of Andrei Fursenko Tatarstan was chosen to hold the congress because of its powerful educational and scientific potential. “Over the last years the republic has taken leading positions in the sphere of academic sciences. Tatarstan authorities do a lot for science development in republic and Russia generally”, - he said.
Rustam Minnikhanov welcomed all participants of the event at a hospitable land of multinational Tatarstan. “I am glad that Kazan following Berlin has become a place for holding such a important and representative forum. First of all, we see that contribution of our republic in development of domestic and world science and consistent work with compatriots are appreciated”, - RT President stressed.
According to Tatarstan leader Kazan with its world-famous university has been one of the leading scientific and educational centres in Russia and Eastern Europe for more than 200 years. Rustam Minnikhanov reminded that a federal and two national research universities are functioning in Kazan – Kazan scientific centre at Russian academy of sciences and Tatarstan Academy of sciences. “Nanotechnologies and supramolecular chemistry are developing in republic. Petrochemistry biotechnologies and medicine are priority spheres in republic”, - he said.
Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized as well that Tatarstan has long been known as the place where East and West meet, that in its turn creates favorable conditions for cross-cultural dialogue. He informed that republican scientists cooperate with colleagues from 40 countries of the far abroad and scientific organizations from Russian regions.
President of Tatarstan briefly told about attraction of investments into republican economy. Construction of IT-Village near Kazan should become one of breakthrough projects which will imply development of a special program on constructing comfortable housing for employees of IT-sector and creation of social infrastructure.
On 9 May Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a ceremony of laying flowers to the monument “The victorious soldier” dedicated to the celebrations of the Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WW II) 1941-1945 and held at Arsk cemetery in Kazan.
On 8 May, speaking at a meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the Acting Chairman of the State Council of the republic Marat Akhmetov and the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin reported that capital overhaul of social facilities is in full swing in the republic with 170 educational facilities having been included into regional and federal programmes.
On 4 May at a briefing held in the Tatarstan Government House it was told that currently there are 92 combat veterans, the last witnesses of the Great Patriotic War (WW II) of 1941-1945, living in the republic. The briefing also informed about veterans’ support measures and how the republic is planning to celebrate the Victory Day on 9 May.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva told that names of 353 Heroes of the Soviet Union from Tatarstan “ are immortalized in street names, on memorials, in monuments and squares and, of course, in our memory”. “The Victory Day is the day of memory, mourning and joy. It is the event which today should be clearly understandable to all young people and younger generation of Tatarstan,” she said.
