On June 27, speaking at a regular meeting of the Economic Council Under the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that the training of highly qualified personnel is of priority importance for the development of the republic and the country as a whole. The effectiveness of investment activity depends directly on the quality of this work, he added.
The meeting focused on the introduction of the regional staffing standard for industrial growth in Tatarstan.
Minnikhanov noted that in order to introduce the regional staffing standard for industrial growth, Tatarstan signed an agreement on cooperation with the Agency for Strategic Initiatives and the Worldskills Russia Union in 2016.
"Tatarstan is regularly among the most attractive territories for investments," Minnikhanov said. “Our region has already been chosen by many world companies for doing business. Tatarstan should become the centre of attraction of the largest international and Russian investors. The implementation of new investment projects will result in the increased need for qualified personnel. Our task is to fill this need with our local specialists in time,” he continued.
Tatarstan President also said that the region is focused on international cooperation, diversification of the economy and modernization of industry based on advanced technologies. The most important project is the InnoKam centre, where it is planned to create more than 30,000 high-productivity jobs.
The InnoKam is meant to become one of the "points of growth" of the modern economy of the country for the next 10 years,” Minnikhanov said. He also reminded that the Alabuga special economic zone and the Himgrad technopolis are successfully developing in the republic and marked their 10th anniversary this year.
We have high hopes with regard to the innovative city of Innopolis, which houses the second special economic zone in the republic, Minnikhanov said.
He reminded that the city of Naberezhnye Chelny, which has been given the status of a territory of advanced economic development, is an effective tool for attracting investments as well. As of today, nine residents have been registered and more than 1300 new jobs have been created there.
"Now we are facing the task of creating the same territories in Nizhnekamsk, Chistopol and Zelenodolsk," Minnikhanov said.
