Minister of Agriculture of the republic reports on the progress of fodder conservation and crop protection measures

On June 30, speaking at a regional video conference meeting held by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov with participation of all municipalities of the republic, Tatarstan Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Akhmetov reported on the progress of field works, and crop protection measures.

Akhmetov said that 1.63 million hectares of crops have been protected against weeds, 530,000 hectares have been treated against pests, and 590,000 hectares of crops have been protected against diseases.

Speaking about fodder conservation, Minister of Agriculture and Food reported that as of June 30, 50,000 tonnes of hay, 900,000 tonnes of haylage, and 310,000 tonnes of fodder have been harvested in the republic.

Minnikhanov сalled heads of municipalities and agricultural organizations to take the fodder conservation campaign more seriously.

He also reminded that All-Russia Field Days will be held at experimental fields of the Tatar Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture near Kazan on July 5-7.

Minnikhanov suggested that Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the republic should actively use this site to train regional farmers, exchange experience, and also for local farmers to learn about the latest technologies in the sphere of agro-industrial complex.
