President of Tatarstan inspected construction of Universiade Village in Kazan

President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited construction site of Universiade Village in Kazan and inspected course of work. Head of Republic was accompanied by Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin, Minister of construction, architecture and housing Irek Faizullin.

Rustam Minnikhanov looked over the building of Public Centre of Universiade Village under construction. During the Games Universiade headquarters, information centre and accreditation centre will be located here. At other time it will be the main building of Volga academy of physical culture and sport.

Main variants of interior decoration of premises and furnishing will be presented to head of republic.

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that all premises of Public centre should be used for academic activities, not for entertainment actions.

RT President overviewed the boulevard of Universiade Village and visited new buildings of student campus of the third construction stage. Rustam Minnikhanov appreciated level of facilities in rooms.

Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin informed that the number of guests and participants may exceed planned 11 000 people. By his words, there were 12,5 thousand people at Universiade in Shenzhen, about 13 000 people are expected to arrive in Kazan.

Thus, possible variants of “packed” settlement of Universiade Village dwellers were introduced to Rustam Minnikhanov. RT President approved suggested variants which implied accommodation of 4 people in big rooms instead of three and gave assignment to equip several buildings properly.

Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized as well that there should not be any “permanent” residents in Universiade Village. Only students from other towns should accommodate there, but during summer holidays they should leave the hostel. In summer period Universiade Village may be used to accommodating participants of competitions and other public events. Also some cosmetic repair of premises may be conducted in summer.
