2 September 2017, Saturday

On September 2, speaking at a regional video-conference held by Tatarstan Prime Minister Alexey Pesoshin in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Akhmetov said that due to the fast pace of the harvesting as many as 70 per cent of grain-sown areas or 1 million 40 thousand hectares have been harvested in Tatarstan by the end of August.

Akhmetov said that a total of 3 million 750 thousand tonnes of grain have been harvested by now, with the yield of 35.6 centners per hectare. To increase the harvesting pace, the Minister called for relocating harvesters that became available, as well as attracting agricultural machinery from other regions more actively. As noted at the meeting, 150 grain harvesters from Rostov, Krasnodar, Bashkortostan, Samara, Orenburg, Mari El and other regions are already being operated in the fields of the republic.

Akhmetov noted that a total of 560 thousand hectares of winter crops are planned to be planted this year. To date, 320 thousand hectares or 57 per cent of the forecast have been sown.

The Minister touched upon the issue of paying rent for land to rural dwellers. The the amount plays an important role in providing backyard livestock with fodder, which ultimately affects the well-being of the population, Akhmetov said. Over the past five years, the amount of payment has increased from 450 to 650 roubles per hectare. "At the same time, a number of regions of the republic do not reach the average size from year to year. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the republic recommended to set a rent of 5 per cent of the value of the spring wheat harvest, which amounted to 700 roubles per hectare," the Minister addressed senior officials of the regions.
