Igor Shuvalov: we can make Universiade in Kazan more comfortable than in China
23 August 2011, Tuesday
First deputy chairman of RF Government - Head of organization committee on preparation and holding Universiade-2013 in Kazan Igor Shuvalov believes that we can organize 27th World summer student games 2013 with more sincere approach than in China. He announced this at a video conference on finishing ceremony of passing FISU flag from Shenzhen to Kazan.
Video conference (telebridge) of Shenzhen and Kazan let journalists from Tatarstan capital address questions to Igor Shuvalov and Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin who were on the site of “Russian-Tatarstan house” in one of hotels where Russian sportsmen accommodated. In Kazan equipment for telebridge was set in the building of Executive office of Universiade 2013 (Peterburgskaya st.). RT Premier Ildar Khalikov took part in video conference.
“Authorities of China and Shenzhen did a lot to prepare for such an important event as Universiade. I do not think our organizational opportunities in 2013 will be worse, – the level of emotional comfort and freedom is higher in Kazan than here. Everything is over-organized in China, and any changes happening can lead to cancellation of holding the event at all. Though guests are kindly received it cannot be compared to Russian hospitality”, - Igor Shuvalov stated.
“As for quality of infrastructure we can show good results as well. We do not need to strive for them. Shenzhen is a city with 10 mln. people but Kazan is a city with 1000th history. I’m sire that while holding Universiade 2013 Russia will show the ability to provide comfortable co-existence, development of various nations, languages. We are able to demonstrate such variety”, - Head of organization committee on preparation and holding Universiade-2013 in Kazan continued.
According to Igor Shuvalov in 2013 we should represent our country as it deserves. He reminded that next year Kazan will have to finish preparation of sport infrastructure for Games 2013. We also have to train our sportsmen for worthy performance at Universiade in Kazan, he said.
Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin in his turn congratulated everyone on having FISU flag back to Russia 40 years after.
Igor Shuvalov informed that VGTRK holding will be involved in organizing opening and closing ceremonies of World Universiade in Kazan. Both ceremonies will take place on football stadium for 45 000 places being currently under construction. “I hope in the process of preparing for these events the best ideas in the sphere of design, technology and art will be revealed. It should be something that can unite and demonstrate our advantage”, - First deputy chairman of RF Government said.
Igor Shuvalov reminded that except for Universiade 2013 Russia will host Olympic Games (2014), World championship in track and field athletics, hockey, water sports (2015), football (2018) and other international events. “We organize such events in order to develop domestic sport and create infrastructure. Our main goal is our people and our own development”, - Igor Shuvalov said.
