Prime Minister of Tatarstan Alexey Pesoshin takes part in solemn ceremony of awarding the International Arbuzov prize in the sphere of organophosphorus chemistry

On September 18, a solemn ceremony of awarding the International Arbuzov prize in the sphere of organophosphorus chemistry was held during the 20th youth school and conference in organic chemistry at Kazan research center of the Russian academy of sciences.

Prime Minister of Tatarstan Alexey Pesoshin handed over the award to professor of the University of Regensburg (Germany) Manfred Scheer.

Kazan has hosted the youth school and conference in organic chemistry for the third time. The conference has been held in Russia since 1998.

The International Arbuzov prize in the sphere of organophosphorus chemistry was founded by the first President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev on July 11, 1997, on the threshold of the 120th anniversary of the chemist and founder of the research school of organophosphorus chemistry, the Hero of Socialist Labour Aleksandr Erminingeldovich Arbuzov (1877–1968).

For twenty years the prize has been awarded to 11 scientists, including two citizens of Russia.

This year the conference is confined to the 140th anniversary of A.E.Arbuzov.
