On September 22, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov paid a working visit to the city of Ulyanovsk to take part in presidium session of the Russian State Council for complex development of passenger transportations in territorial entities of the Russian Federation. The session was held by the Russian President Vladimir Putin at “Zavolzhie” industrial park.

During the session Putin noted that the passenger flow in public transport in Russia made 18.7 bln people in the previous year. “It means that on average every Russian citizen use transport services 130 times a year.  Mass character and big social implication of public transport dictate high requirements to passenger transportations,” the president said.

According to the president, a complex approach to fulfillment of these requirements has not been developed yet. Every region solves problems of public transport relying on its own opportunities. Very often actions of regional and municipal authorities are not coordinated and entail some problems. By results of 2016, 63 per cent of large and medium-size organizations that render services of bus transportations are unprofitable.

Putin suggested implementing complex plans of transport services that will help organizing regional transport communication of higher quality, setting priorities in development of certain types of transport and increasing efficiency of budgetary expenditures. He pointed out that providing comfort and safety of passengers in transport is very important.
