On September 23, in the Government House of the republic, speaking at a video-conference held by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Akhmetov reported that 1 million 460 thousand hectares have been harvested in Tatarstan, with a total of 4 million 950 thousand tonnes of grain threshed. Next week the main part of the harvesting campaign will be completed, the Minister said.
As noted at the meeting, this year has become a record-breaking in terms of the harvest of wheat, rye and barley for many regions of the republic. Zainsk, Tetyushy, Rybnaya-Sloboda and Kaibitsy regions have broken their own historical high. They have already completed the harvesting of grain and their equipment has been transferred to the fields of the regions that are lagging behind.
Akhmetov continued to report that more than half of potato areas have been harvested. This year’s harvest is being actively sold, at traditional agricultural fairs in particular.
The Minister said that farmers, who are focusing on autumn plowing now, have treated about 890,000 hectares, which makes 44 per cent of the plan. Akhmetov recommends that villagers use their technical potential more effectively.
