Rustam Minnikhanov reports at the opening of WAIPA conference in Geneva

RT President Rustam Minnikhanov presented experience of Tatarstan Republic in the sphere of attracting investments at opening the conference of World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies in Geneva.
The World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies was founded in 1995 in Geneva. Currently 228 investment agencies from 156 countries are members of the Association. WAIPA organizes a forum for these agencies, membership is open for any institution of this kind. Among WAIPA partners are the Foreign Investment Advisory Council of World Bank, International economic development council, Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, UN Conference on trade and development and UN Industrial Development Organization. Russia is represented by National agency for direct investments and Northwest agency for development and attracting investments.
This year representatives of 260 investment promotion agencies from around the world take part in annual WAIPA conference. The Republic of Tatarstan is represented by RT Agency for investment development. The key topics of the conference are changing macroeconomic situation and direct foreign investments, review of long-term prospects, - innovations, pollution-free technologies, issues of attracting foreign technologies into developing countries.
President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov made a speech at the opening ceremony. According to Director of RT Agency for investment development Linar Yakupov, Head of Tatarstan told about experience of Tatarstan Republic in the sphere of attracting investments and presented economic and industrial potential of republic. R. Minnikhanov emphasized that Tatarstan was one of the first regions in Russia to create the Agency for investment development and is considered one of the most attractive regions for investors.
On September 5, Rustam Minnikhanov will take part in several working meetings in Geneva. In particular, he is going to meet Minister of external trade of United Arab Emirates, Minister of national planning and economy of Costa Rica, Deputy Minister of economy of Brazil, Managing director of Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit of the Islamic development bank.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
On May 14, Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda, who arrived on a working visit in Kazan to take part in the events of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, was met by Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin and other officials at the Kazan International Airport.
