Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in opening ceremony of the Science and Technology in Society (STS) forum

On October 1, during his working visit to Japan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the opening ceremony of the annual Science and Technology in Society (STS) forum at Kyoto International Conference Center Takaragaike.

STS forum is a place for open informal discussions that helps solving global problems by using science and technology.

The distinguished guests of the forum are Prime Minister of Japan Shinzō Abe, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, and Chairman of Royal Dutch Shell Plc Charles Holliday.

Addressing the guests, Shinzō Abe said that the future of the world depends on the development of innovations and technologies.

In his welcoming speech Arkady Dvorkovich stressed that Japan is Russia’s key partner of in Asian-Pacific Region, especially in the sphere of science and technology.

“I am glad to say that Russia sticks to the road map on creation of self-driving cars, and we will demonstrate the results during FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia,” Dvorkovich said.

It had been reported before that test models of self-driving passenger vehicles developed by specialists of the Central Scientific Research Automobile and Automotive Engines Institute, abbreviated as NAMI, and KAMAZ, PJSC, will be used during FIFA World Cup 2018.

On October 1-3 international experts will be discussing  the following topics: “Future prospects of Oil and Gas”, “Artificial  intelligence” , “Ocean”, “Future nanomaterials”, New transport and mobile systems”, “Internet of things (IoT)”.
