President of Tatarstan lays foundation stone of chemical building at Kazan federal university

Laying of foundation stone of new building of Chemical institute named after Butlerov was held within the limits of International Butlerov congress on organic chemistry on September, 21. President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Director of Kazan scientific centre of Russian academy of sciences Oleg Sinyashin, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, rector of Kazan federal university Ilshat Gafurov and other officials attended an official ceremony.
The construction site will be deployed behind the present chemical building.
“We are present today at emergence of new chemical building at our university that is proud of its chemical school, its history and the present. The school has gained worldwide acceptance that is proved by International congress on organic chemistry being held these days on the basis of our federal university. After receiving federal status we have opportunity to purchase unique equipment. It is not just maintenance supply of the university, it is the birth of our future. The university may be competitive not only due to its history and maintenance supply, it is the struggle for new markets, influence on industrial enterprises of chemical sector first of all”, -Ilshat Gafurov said.
President of Tatarstan, Chairman of Kazan federal university board Rustam Minnikhanov pointed out traditions of Kazan chemical school. “Competitiveness of our republic consists in chemistry and petrochemistry”, - he said. Head of republic reminded about his visit to Chemical institute in March this year. That time agreement on constructing new building for the institute named after Butlerov was reached.
“Everyone of us will do his best to have modern institute so that our scientists will become the most competitive. It will surely increase competitiveness of petrochemistry in republic”,- Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized.
RT President congratulated people gathered at the ceremony on laying of foundation stone of new building of Chemical institute named after Butlerov.
Director of Kazan scientific centre of Russian academy of sciences Oleg Sinyashin considers it symbolic that this event takes place in International year of chemistry. “Foundation of such modern institute which will have new educational philosophy is very important. We are now creating foundation for the future of chemical education, chemical science and industry in RT and Russia. Among all events dated to International year of chemistry today’s event is the most important and impressive”, - he stated.
“We are ready to take part in construction and realize the project in a short period of time”, - Director general of JSC “TAIF” Albert Shigabutdinov said. He informed as well that realization of the third program on development of RT petrochemical complex had been started in republic. By his words, preparation of staff and development of new technologies are the key components of the program. That is why construction of new chemical building is so important.
“We have always been proud of Kazan university. The history of our capital is connected with its history”, - Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin said. He added that city authorities would do their best to favor prosperity of Kazan federal university.
It will be a 7- floor laboratory building equipped up-do-date consisting of research departments, including 20 scientific laboratories that meet international standards, with advanced expensive equipment inside purchased by the Program on developing KFU and Chemical institute. The construction will be implemented at the expense of university trustees, republican budget and major industrial enterprises.
On 9 May Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a ceremony of laying flowers to the monument “The victorious soldier” dedicated to the celebrations of the Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WW II) 1941-1945 and held at Arsk cemetery in Kazan.
On 8 May, speaking at a meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the Acting Chairman of the State Council of the republic Marat Akhmetov and the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin reported that capital overhaul of social facilities is in full swing in the republic with 170 educational facilities having been included into regional and federal programmes.
On 4 May at a briefing held in the Tatarstan Government House it was told that currently there are 92 combat veterans, the last witnesses of the Great Patriotic War (WW II) of 1941-1945, living in the republic. The briefing also informed about veterans’ support measures and how the republic is planning to celebrate the Victory Day on 9 May.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva told that names of 353 Heroes of the Soviet Union from Tatarstan “ are immortalized in street names, on memorials, in monuments and squares and, of course, in our memory”. “The Victory Day is the day of memory, mourning and joy. It is the event which today should be clearly understandable to all young people and younger generation of Tatarstan,” she said.
