RT President Rustam Minnikhanov met with Ambassador of Germany to Russia Ulrich Brandenburg

“Federal Republic of Germany is one of the largest investors in Tatarstan economy”, - President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov stated at a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Federal Republic of Germany to Russian Federation Ulrich Brandenburg.
The meeting was held in Kazan Kremlin, the Residence of RT President. Delegation of FRG led by Ambassador of Germany to Russia Ulrich Brandenburg stays in Kazan with two-day visit (September 20-21, 2011). One of the purposes of the visit is participation in the Week of young scientist. Actions on this occasion were held yesterday, on September 20 at Kazan (Volga) federal university.
Greeting guests RT President Rustam Minnikhanov noted that present friendly and business relations of Germany and Russia favor realizing projects and solutions at regional level. By his words, cooperation between FRG and Tatarstan is being implemented in medicine, energy sector, engineering, petrochemistry and education.
“Development of relations in educational sector with the best world universities is interesting for republic. We need direct contacts with German universities. He pointed out high quality of engineering education at German universities. Internship and educational progams at such universities is a good practice for Tatarstan students and specialists. Republican industry in particular compressor engineering, petrochemistry and mechanical engineering require qualified engineers”, - Rustam Minnikhanov said.
According to Tatarstan leader increase of commodity turnover with FRG is needed today. He added as well that FRG is one of the largest investors in Tatarstan economy. About 40 enterprises have been founded in republic with participation of German investments. There are plans for further deployment of companies with German capital on the territory of Tatarstan, including SEZ “Alabuga” (Elabuga municipal region). Rustam Minnikhanov reminded that the enterprise “Preiss – Deimler – Tatneft – Alabuga – Steklovolokno” is functioning in SEZ “Alabuga”, production of trucks jointly with “Mercedes” has been arranged at JSC “KAMAZ”.
Rustam Minnikhanov addressed special words of gratitude to FRG Ambassador to Russia for active and fruitful cooperation of Tatarstan with Free State of Saxony.
RT President considers that direct flight connection between Kazan and German regions opened by “Lufthansa” also plays an important role in interaction between Tatarstan and German business.
Plenipotentiary of Federal Republic of Germany to Russian Federation Ulrich Brandenburg thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for reception and stated that “today Tatarstan is a serious partner in economic, scientific and cultural spheres”. That is why he responded with pleasure to the offer to take part in Russian-German Week of young scientist (September 19-24, 2011).
On September 20 German delegation visited RT German House (Kazan, K.Marx str.,26) and met with members of German community in Tatarstan.
At the meeting parties also discussed cooperation in educational sector. More than 60 000 students study German in Tatarstan. Three universities prepare German teachers. Within the limits of cooperation with DAAD – German service of academic exchange annually 20 students receive MA degrees and 30 postgraduate students and teachers pass internship at German universities.

More than 50 representatives of German companies from various economic sectors are on FRG delegation. Members of delegation are going to visit Kazan federal university, techopark in the sphere of high technologies - IT park, Universiade objects, secondary school № 36 with advanced study of German language, and Ernst&Young company.

On 12 April in his address to residents of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated them with the Space Exploration Day and said: “April 12, 1961 has forever been inscribed into the world history as the day of triumph of the Soviet science and engineering thought. The flight of Yuriy Gagarin opened the way to the stars for the humankind and demonstrated to the whole world the might of our country.
On 4 April , speaking at a closing ceremony of the XX Russian Venture Forum held at the Kazan Expo Exhibition Center, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the Russian Venture Forum has confirmed its status of the point of attraction of technological development leaders.
The Forum created a unified scientific, technological and investment space where scientific ideas are transformed into competitive products, and startups gain access to capital and markets. Its business programme is organically integrated into the regional and federal agenda for achieving technological sovereignty and leadership of Russia, he said.
On 1 April Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Russian Minister of Healthcare Mikhail Murashko introduced Ayrat Farrakhov, who was appointed the Acting Rector of Kazan State Medical University (KSMU) to its staff.
In his speech Mikhail Murashko emphasized that today KSMU is rightfully considered one of the most respected in the country and said:”Ayrat (Zakievich) has been officially appointed the Acting Rector and I am sure that under his leadership the University will maintain the positions it has achieved and, of course, will continue its development.”
