Rustam Minnikhanov meets Managing Partner at Torrey Pines Investment Nikolay Savchuk

On October 24, at their meeting in San Francisco, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Managing Partner at Torrey Pines Investment Nikolay Savchuk discussed further cooperation in the field of health-care and pharmaceuticals industry, including cooperation between Torrey Pines Investment and Tatkhimfarmpreparaty Pharmaceuticals Manufacturer.

Torrey Pines Investment is a venture company specializing in investments in the field of medical and biological technologies. At present, its venture portfolio include 16 companies. The findings are used in various areas of medicine, including HIV, central nervous system diseases, oncology, viral infections and others.

An agreement on cooperation in the production of innovative medicines had been reached earlier. Tatkhimpharmpreparaty has already been registered as a site for the production of three medicines for the treatment of HIV-infected patients.

Moreover, the presentation of the TealTech Mobile Medical Office project was made at the meeting. The project envisages in-home diagnostics of patients due to the use of special equipment and devices to quickly obtain diagnostic results (ultrasound investigation, blood, urine, biochemistry tests, electrocardiogram, etc.). This will give the possibility to use telemedicine for delivering health services for the elderly people, bed-bound and mobility impaired patients at home.

It was agreed during the meeting that representatives of Torrey Pines Investment will come to Kazan to look into the issues in the near future.
