Aleksei Sorokin: Kazan has tremendous advantage for holding matches of World football championship – 2018

Major sport events are considered to be a tremendous advantage for organizing World football championship – 2018, Director-general of ANO “Organizational committee “Russia-2018” Aleksei Sorokin stated after a session of regional organizing committee for holding World football championship – 2018. We remind that the session was held in RT Cabinet with participation of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.
“It is not the first time we are in Kazan. We were intensively involving leadership of the region in preparation of the bid for World championship, brought FIFA inspection commission, thus, we know a lot about opportunities of the city and the whole region. Major sport events (Universiade 2013 and World championship in water sports 2015) are considered to be a tremendous advantage for organizing World football championship – 2018. They will bring priceless experience to organizers, ready-made infrastructure and preparedness of the city for hosting a great deal of foreign guests”, - Aleksei Sorokin said.
According to Aleksei Sorokin members of ANO “Organizational committee “Russia-2018” have visited all training sites planned for World championship 2018, several hotels, a football stadium and Millennium square.
On 15 December, speaking at a meeting of the competition committee of the regional public competition “The Manager of the Year” about its results in 2025, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the list of 155 participants (nominees), who are heads of enterprises and organizations from various industries and sectors of the economy, for the competition was formed based on recommendations from regional ministries and departments, city and district municipalities, employers' associations and the Federation of Trade Unions of the republic.
On 6 December speaking at a regional meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatullin reported about progress in implementation of the of multi-apartment houses capital overhaul programme.
On 5 December, congratulating volunteers with the International Volunteers Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva wrote in her address: “
Your boundless kindness, sincere desire to help others and active civic position deserve special recognition and deep gratitude. There are over 5,000 volunteer associations operating successfully in Tatarstan, with a total membership of over 220,000 caring people of all ages and professions. Every year the contribution of volunteers into public life of the republic becomes more noticeable.
On 4 December Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, took part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic being held at the Kazan Aircraft University on 4-6 December with participation of more than 100 people and more than 40 experts in politics, economy, science, education and industry from all over Russia.
