Rustam Minnikhanov meets President and Board Chairman of Pirelli Company Marco Tronchetti Provera

On December 13, during his working visit to Milan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with President and Board Chairman of Pirelli Company Marco Tronchetti.

Prior to the meeting, members of the delegation of the republic led by Minnikhanov visited the engineering centre of Pirelli, where they were demonstrated the process of production of car tires, as well as their development and testing using the most modern technologies.

As noted at the meeting, the Pirelli Company has been successfully cooperating with Tatarstan petrochemical enterprises for several decades. For example, Pirelli equipment was installed in Nizhnekamsk as part of the project to organize the production of passenger car radial tires (2002-2004). In 2002-2010, the Tatneft Oil Company together with Pirelli successfully implemented the investment programme for the development of passenger car and light truck tire production under the Kama-EURO brand. Moreover, the Nizhnekamskneftekhim Petrochemical Company and the Italian partners cooperate in the field of the production of rubber as well as work on the development of new types of products.

Minnikhanov stressed that the cooperation between the Pirelli Company and the regional enterprises is successful. According to him, the supply of synthetic rubber made by Nizhnekamskneftekhim Petrochemical Company to Pirelli has increased by more than three times.

"Tatarstan is interested in expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with Pirelli, one of the world's leading manufacturers of car tires," Minnikhanov said.

He also noted that he was impressed with the technologies that were demonstrated today during his visit to the Pirelli's engineering centre. You are the leader of innovation, and therefore it is not by chance that you take the lead in the production of tires in the world, Minnikhanov added.

The representatives of the Pirelli Company again invited Minnikhanov to visit the recently opened tire sales centre of Pirelli in Kazan.

During the meeting, a long-term (five-year) agreement on the supply of synthetic rubber was signed between the Nizhnekamskneftekhim and the Pirelli Company.
