Tatarstan shows interest in cooperation with Great Britain in business and educational sectors

Development of cooperation in educational sector a priority area of interaction between Tatarstan and Great Britain, the Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov stated at a meeting with Acting ambassador, Charge D’Affaires of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland in Russian Federation Mr Denis Keefe.
The event took place at the Kazan Kremlin with participation of Tatarstan minister of industry and trade Ravil Zaripov, and Chief of the Investment development agency Linar Yakupov.
Tatarstan citizens visit Britain first of all in the context of different educational programs including the republican program Algarysh, Rustam Minnikhanov highlighted. Itinerary of the current visit includes meetings with teachers and students of Kazan universities.
“I believe this is a good area for cooperation, taking into account the education development strategy being realized in republic”, Rustam Minnikhanov said.
Tatarstan also shows interest towards GB experience in business and sport sectors. The country enjoys experience of public-private partnership both in economic and social sectors. During the visit of Tatarstan delegation to Britain (the end of November) Tatarstan representatives are going to examine the practice of creating public centres on the basis of schools.
The UK in its turn expresses interest in cooperation in oil and gas sphere, motor industry, engineering and scientific research, first of all in medicine and biology, Denis Keefe informed.
The British officials addressed with a request to present information about future infrastructure development of Tatarstan, new investment prospects, and innovative projects of the Republic.
Interaction between Tatarstan and Britain in business sector should be brought to a new level, Rustam Minnikhanov stressed. To realize it the parties agreed on exchanging delegations, and a working group is to be created in republic.
Tatarstan leader marked opening of a visa centre in Kazan would favour establishing closer relationships between Great Britain and Tatarstan Republic.
According to Chief of the Investment development agency Linar Yakupov the parties agreed as well on the visit of delegation from the British investment agency UK Trade and Investment to Kazan in 2012. Organizers of Universiade 2013 will in their turn head for London to study the experience of holding the Olympic Games.
On March 10, the third meeting of the organizing committee on preparation and holding of the 20th anniversary Russian Venture Forum 2026 to be held in Kazan from April 8 to 10, chaired by Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov and with participation of Tatarstan Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and co-chair of the forum’s organizing committee Aleksey Pesoshin, President of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan Rifkat Minnikhanov, Director of the Investment and Venture Fund of Tatarstan Damir Galiev as well as representatives of federal and regional authorities, development institutions and partner organizations via videoconference, took place.
On 10 March, speaking at a briefing dedicated to the development of the national Max messenger in Tatarstan and held in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Digitalization of Public Administration, Information Technologies and Communication of the republic Ilya Nachvin informed that according to the data of March 2026 about 1.5m residents of Tatarstan use domestic Max messenger.
On 5 February Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in ceremony of awarding winners of the regional competition “The Woman of the Year. The Man of the Year: A Woman’s View” held at the Korston Leisure and Recreation Center in Kazan.
On 4 March at a briefing in the Government House of the republic Tatarstan Minister of Land and Property Relation Fanil Agliullin told about changes in land legislation enforced from 1 March of the current year. He said that they simplify a number of procedures for land plot owners including expanding the possibilities for land use and changing the rules for changing the category of a plot.
