On January 20, in the Government House of the republic, at a video-conference held by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov with participation of all regional municipalities and Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin, Tatarstan Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Akhmetov reported that there are 81 breeding farms, 19 breeding plants and 62 multiplication farms operating in the republic. The majority of breeding farms, namely 60, are in dairy cattle breeding, including 15 breeding plants.
Akhmetov reminded that the region has a task to fulfill the indicators of two million tonnes of milk and 600,000 tonnes of cattle meat by 2020. “The implementation of these tasks is only possible due to dedicated selective breeding work to increase productive longevity, to improve reproduction and growing high-productive young cattle for breeding,” the minister concluded.
In his turn, Minnikhanov suggested to organize special training courses for heads of the regions, concerning issues of development livestock breeding in the sphere of dairy farming.
