Rustam Minnikhanov visits Kazan synagogue and meets with activists of Jewish religious community

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited Kazan synagogue (Profsoyusnaya str,15) on December 2. Chief rabbi of Tatarstan Itskhak Goredik told about the history of synagogue and Jewish religious community. Rustam Minnikhanov and his party looked over the history museum of Kazan Jewish community and hall of worship.
Currently Kazan Jewish community is one of the strongest in Russia. It comprises Republican charitable fund “Jewish centre “Hesed Moshe”, Jewish kindergarten “Or Avner”, school “Or Avner”, secondary comprehensive school №12, Centre of Jewish sciences at Kazan state university. Representation of Jewish agency in Russia (“Sokhnut”) , Tatarstan Jewish national-cultural autonomy, community library, museum of Kazan Jewish community, youth Jewish centre “Afifon”, youth Jewish club, children Sunday school.
Rustam Minnikhanov met with activists of Kazan Jewish religious community. Head of Tatarstan appreciated activity of the community in terms of preservation of culture, traditions and native language. He shared impressions regarding his trip to Australia in September 2011 where he met with representatives of a numerous Tatar diaspora who put much emphasis on preservation and studying of the native language, customs and culture.
The meeting was attended by the Head of RT President Staff Yury Kamaltynov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, chairman of community – President of Tatarstan Jewish national-cultural autonomy Mikhail Skoblionok.
On 13 April in his congratulatory address on the occasion of the Maecenas and Benefactor Day, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated residents of the republic with the event and wrote: "Tatarstan has always been known for its generous and kind-hearted people who are ready to help the needy and support important social, cultural and educational projects. We all remember with gratitude the outstanding philanthropists – the Akchurin brothers, the Alafuzovs, and the Ushkovs, whose good deeds and generous donations contributed to the development of culture, education, and healthcare in our republic. The glorious traditions are continued by modern philanthropists and patrons of Tatarstan.
On 12 April in his address to residents of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated them with the Space Exploration Day and said: “April 12, 1961 has forever been inscribed into the world history as the day of triumph of the Soviet science and engineering thought. The flight of Yuriy Gagarin opened the way to the stars for the humankind and demonstrated to the whole world the might of our country.
On 4 April , speaking at a closing ceremony of the XX Russian Venture Forum held at the Kazan Expo Exhibition Center, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the Russian Venture Forum has confirmed its status of the point of attraction of technological development leaders.
The Forum created a unified scientific, technological and investment space where scientific ideas are transformed into competitive products, and startups gain access to capital and markets. Its business programme is organically integrated into the regional and federal agenda for achieving technological sovereignty and leadership of Russia, he said.
On 1 April Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Russian Minister of Healthcare Mikhail Murashko introduced Ayrat Farrakhov, who was appointed the Acting Rector of Kazan State Medical University (KSMU) to its staff.
In his speech Mikhail Murashko emphasized that today KSMU is rightfully considered one of the most respected in the country and said:”Ayrat (Zakievich) has been officially appointed the Acting Rector and I am sure that under his leadership the University will maintain the positions it has achieved and, of course, will continue its development.”
