Farid Mukhametshin: Election campaign was well-organized in Tatarstan

Election campaign of deputies to RF State Duma of Federal Assembly of VI convocation was characterized by high activity of all participants. Such statement was made today by Chairman of RT State Council Farid Mukhametshin on a press conference on issues of election results.

A meeting with journalists took place in RT Government House with participation of Chairman of Central Election commission Anatoly Fomin.

According to data given by Farid Mukhametshin voter turnout in Tatarstan made 79,5%, 2,279 mln voters took part in elections, two parties – “United Russia” and “CPRF” (The Communist Party of the Russian Federation) overcame the barrier of 7%. By preliminary data “United Russia” has 77,83%, “CPRF” - 10,59%.

Head of Republican parliament stressed the election campaign was well-organized in Republic. “Seven political parties which were rather active took part in the process”, Farid Mukhametshin said.

By the way, notwithstanding such activity the number of appeals to courts, election commissions and law enforcement agencies decreased in comparison with previous campaigns.

By words of Farid Mukhametshin, another feature of current elections was the great number of observers from countries of the far abroad. By and large, 8 000 observers representing parties participated in elections. All 2855 voting precincts opened and closed in time.

“I think professional skills of our Central election commission and specialists onsite improve”, Farid Mukhametshin said.
“I would like to address citizens with words of gratitude for their activity”, Head of republican parliament said. He also thanked members of election commissions for their work.

Chairman of Central Election commission Anatoly Fomin told about some features of the elections, in particular, active participation of young in the election campaign, and wide use of e-voting complexes which were placed in 33 municipalities.

The Republic has become one of the first regions in Russia to use e-systems. Tatarstan experience is expected to be spread throughout the whole country.
