A unique race track that unites auto and motor athletes has this year opened in Tatarstan.

The 2011 automotorsport season’s results have today been summed up in Kazan. President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov was attendee.

Earlier in the year, owing to Rustam Minnikhanov’s support, a unique touring motorway Kazan Ring that brought together auto and motor sportsmen was built. in August, the Russian championship’s 4th stage in groups Touring and Touring Light, as well as the Russia Cup 4th stage in groups Super Production and National, were held here.

Rustam Minnikhanov in his address to the sportsmen said the result were summarised for the 16th season and that had become a good tradition. “Auto sport for our republic is mainly a positive image, adn not only in the country – we are well-known in Europe and in the world. The Kamaz Master team, our young guys, glorify the republic. I think we will continue to support auto sports. The result of this work is a new unique motorway. Generally speaking , every possibility is available to develop this sport. I envy the younger sportsmen, since they have a lot of time to achieve success,” R. Minnikhanov said.

The winners were officially celebrated. Auto racer Nikolay Zhavoronkov received a letter of gratitude from President of Tatarstan. Letters of gratitude from the Cabinet of Ministers and pins “Outstanding physical culture and sport result” were granted as well.

Rustam Minnikhanov was in for a surprise himself. He was awarded a commemorative medal from the Tatarstan Federation of Auto and Motor Sports and a memorial plaque “1995-2010. A new era of auto sport in Republic of Tatarstan”.

The problems faced by auto sportsmen were also brought up. TFAMS president Ivan Yegorov said the number of pilots decreased. “Of the 45 car pilots half do not participate in the Tatarstan championship,” he noted.

“Understandably, the main reason is financial, but there are other factors as well. For instance, the constantly changing technical requirements for car preparation. We even get amendments to the requirements a month before the season begins,” I. Yegorov said.

I.Yegorov remarked on the great work to develop the kart racing movement in Tatarstan done by the Interior Ministry branch chief Rifkat Minnikhanov.

“It is kart racing that opens the way to great auto sport, it is from these sportsmen that talents like Timerzyanov and Rakhmatullin grow up,” Tatarstan Auto and Motor Sport Federation head said.

Tatarstan has 76 auto racers, including the Kamaz Master team, 62 kart racing clubs that teach over 2 thousand children and young people.
