Rustam Minnikhanov: Objects of wood architecture stir great interest among the tourists and year by year this interest will keep growing

Meeting on issues of preserving and reviving the objects of cultural heritage and new construction in a center of Kazan has been held today by RT president R.N. Minnikhanov.
The meeting took place in RT House of Government. Among the participants there were RT minister of construction, architecture and utilities Irek Faizullin, Head of the Interiors ministry on RT Asgat Safarov, aide to RT President Olesya Baltuseva, mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, chief architecture of Kazan Tatyana Prokofieva and others.
The old wooden buildings in Kazan that have a historical value and contribute to the old city’s look should be preserved and restored, R. Minnikhanov said in the beginning. Not only the wooden structures protected by the state should be preserved but some of those located near tourist itineraries in the centre of Kazan, he holds.
Wooden architecture arouses a great interest from tourists and historians and the interest is bound to grow year on year, R. Minnikhanov said.
Aide to President O. Baltusova reported in detail on the list of wooden structures recommended for reconstruction and restoration.
Some old buildings in Kazan’s historical centre have been lost. R. Minnikhanov suggested constructing facilities in their place with facades replicating the old houses and reproducing the historical look.
The meeting discussed preparing solutions on construction projects in the historical centre of Kazan. Earlier, construction of 121 facilities had been suspended. In November over half of them were permitted to continue construction. Some buildings were recommended to revise the design. Kazan chief architect Tatiana Prokofieva presented some redesigned projects to R. Minnikhanov.
On 13 April in his congratulatory address on the occasion of the Maecenas and Benefactor Day, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated residents of the republic with the event and wrote: "Tatarstan has always been known for its generous and kind-hearted people who are ready to help the needy and support important social, cultural and educational projects. On 12 April in his address to residents of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated them with the Space Exploration Day and said: “April 12, 1961 has forever been inscribed into the world history as the day of triumph of the Soviet science and engineering thought. The flight of Yuriy Gagarin opened the way to the stars for the humankind and demonstrated to the whole world the might of our country.
On 4 April , speaking at a closing ceremony of the XX Russian Venture Forum held at the Kazan Expo Exhibition Center, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the Russian Venture Forum has confirmed its status of the point of attraction of technological development leaders.
The Forum created a unified scientific, technological and investment space where scientific ideas are transformed into competitive products, and startups gain access to capital and markets. Its business programme is organically integrated into the regional and federal agenda for achieving technological sovereignty and leadership of Russia, he said.
On 1 April Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Russian Minister of Healthcare Mikhail Murashko introduced Ayrat Farrakhov, who was appointed the Acting Rector of Kazan State Medical University (KSMU) to its staff.
In his speech Mikhail Murashko emphasized that today KSMU is rightfully considered one of the most respected in the country and said:”Ayrat (Zakievich) has been officially appointed the Acting Rector and I am sure that under his leadership the University will maintain the positions it has achieved and, of course, will continue its development.”
