Tatarstan President takes part in Gaidar forum

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov has delivered the report on areas and objectives of Tatarstan development at the annual Gaidar forum «Russia and world: 2012-2020». Forum opened today in Moscow, Russian academy of national economy and state service under RF President. Conspicuous political and economic figures of Russia and foreign countries are taking part in the event.

Rustam Minnikhanov was one of the main participants of the first plenary session “New pattern of growth”. First deputy chairman of RF Government Igor Shuvalov, Minister of economic development of Russia Elvira Nabiullina, President and board chairman of “Sberbank of Russia” German Gref, Vice-president for Europe and Central Asia World Bank Mr Philippe Le Houerou.

Igor Shuvalov read out greetings of RF Government Chairman Vladimir Putin and informed about results of Russia’s development for the last 12 years and objectives till 2020. Igor Shuvalov believes taking into account the present state of affairs Russia stands a good chance to become economically and politically developed society.

Moderator of discussion - rector of Russian academy of national economy and state service Vladimir Mau introduced Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov as the Head of a region pretending to be called “economic miracle”. Rustam Minnikhanov told about practical deeds of Tatarstan leadership aimed at the region’s development. According to RT President gross regional product of Republic made 1,25 trillion roubles in 2011, by 2016 it is expected to reach 2 trillion roubles.

Rustam Minnikhanov also informed about support of minor forms of agriculture, realization of programs on major repair of multi-apartment houses and housing construction. RT President especially emphasized natural population growth was registered in Republic for the first time in a long period in 2011.

Development of a country and a region is impossible without solid human resources. Therefore, in order to increase human resources the strategy of education development which focuses on informatization was approved in Tatarstan.

Speaking about ways of increasing gross regional product Rustam Minnikhanov told about big petrochemical projects being realized in Tatarstan – “TANECO”, “Ammony”, ethylene-producing plant at “Nizhnekamskneftehim”. By words of Tatarstan President it is important to implement reforms at present enterprises. Thus, a program of lean production was approved in Republic. Due to adoption of lean technologies KAMAZ managed to save 16 bln roubles for 5 years.

Rustam Minnikhanov believes special economic zone “Alabuga” also has huge potential.

The potential of small and medium-size business is being realized in Tatarstan by creating certain infrastructure. Thus, KIP “Master”, technopolis “Himgrad”, IT-park are successfully functioning. The second IT-park will soon be launched in Naberezhnye Chelny.

Rustam Minnikhanov called creation of innovative satellite city “Innopolis” an ambitious task set before Republic. The project of Kama industrial region will also be presented at the forum. In prospect this cluster can bring industrial production for the sum of 1 bln roubles per year.
