Rustam Minnikhanov: Forest is a great resource to be used properly

Many positive changes are currently being observed in Tatarstan forestry, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov stated at a debriefing of RT Ministry of forestry. The event was held in GTRK Korston (Kazan) with participation of the Head of Federal forestry agency Viktor Maslyakov.
At the session Rustam Minnikhanov spoke positively about functioning of the forestry sector in Tatarstan. He noted activity on preservation and expansion of forests is a key to success for future generations. “Forest is a great resource we must use properly, and it requires special care. All measures we are taking today in the industry imply money-losing work, but we will then enjoy great results”, Rustam Minnikhanov stated.
“We see people who can successfully work in this industry. Indeed there should be pilot regions in Russia to work out certain programs. Forests must be used properly”, Rustam Minnikhanov said adding that Tatarstan will participate in all federal programs.
We remind on January,19 Tatarstan President attended opening of a unique Forest selection seed-growing centre in Sabinsky region (the Republic of Tatarstan). It was stated at a conference that it is the largest centre in Europe. Head of Republic also visited fire-chemical station of the III type, one of the most up-to-date stations fully equipped with fire machinery and facilities.
Tatarstan Minister of forestry Nail Magdeev reported on results of activity in 2011 and tasks to be implemented in future. He reminded 2011 was announced International year of forests and thanked republican and federal authorities for attention they pay to problems of the industry.
“Serious technical modernization has started in forestry sector. Republican leadership puts much emphasis on Tatarstan forests", the minister informed. Currently Tatarstan is considered to be a sparsely wooded region. Percentage of forest land makes 17,4%. Last year certain measures were taken on preventing forest fires in Tatarstan. Due to financial support of federal centre and republican leadership 75 units of equipment were purchased. Thus, the result was not slow to arrive. In 2011 Tatarstan did not suffer any forest fires.
“Tatarstan forestry has its feet on the ground and development prospects have already been defined for the industry”, Head of Federal forestry agency Viktor Maslyakov said.
On March 10, the third meeting of the organizing committee on preparation and holding of the 20th anniversary Russian Venture Forum 2026 to be held in Kazan from April 8 to 10, chaired by Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov and with participation of Tatarstan Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and co-chair of the forum’s organizing committee Aleksey Pesoshin, President of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan Rifkat Minnikhanov, Director of the Investment and Venture Fund of Tatarstan Damir Galiev as well as representatives of federal and regional authorities, development institutions and partner organizations via videoconference, took place.
On 10 March, speaking at a briefing dedicated to the development of the national Max messenger in Tatarstan and held in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Digitalization of Public Administration, Information Technologies and Communication of the republic Ilya Nachvin informed that according to the data of March 2026 about 1.5m residents of Tatarstan use domestic Max messenger.
On 5 February Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in ceremony of awarding winners of the regional competition “The Woman of the Year. The Man of the Year: A Woman’s View” held at the Korston Leisure and Recreation Center in Kazan.
On 4 March at a briefing in the Government House of the republic Tatarstan Minister of Land and Property Relation Fanil Agliullin told about changes in land legislation enforced from 1 March of the current year. He said that they simplify a number of procedures for land plot owners including expanding the possibilities for land use and changing the rules for changing the category of a plot.
