Agreement on interaction between Russian ministry of education and science and nonprofit organization “Student Basketball Association” was signed in Kazan on January, 21. RF Minister of education and science Andrey Fursenko and President of RF student basketball association, RF Minister of justice Aleksandr Konovalov put their signatures on the document.
The agreement implies cooperation in the sphere of healthy lifestyle promotion, development of physical culture and sport, especially student basketball.
Attendees at the sighing ceremony were Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, state secretary – Deputy RF minister of sport, tourism and youth policy Natalia Parshikova, First FISU Vice-president, Head of Russian student sport union Ole Matytsin, basketball players famous in the past and acting players, Olympic champion Sergey Belov, Anatoly Myshkin, and Sergey Panov.
“Such an important event has taken place. We have always got on well with RF Ministry of education and science, but this time our relationships have obtained new status. Above all, students of our country have realized sport is a natural and necessary part of their life”, Aleksandr Konovalov stated.
By words of Head of RF student basketball association it is very symbolic that the agreement had been signed in Kazan, the city to host summer Universiade – 2013. “After holding the Games Kazan will have all chances to become the leader of student sport in Russia and soon be internationally recognized. We express gratitude to Rustam Minnikhanov and his team for giving young people an opportunity to go in for sports”, Aleksandr Konovalov stressed.
RT President in his turn called signing of the agreement a significant event for Kazan. “Due to winning the right to host Universiade – 2013 our attitude to student sport and infrastructure has changed. It has become a very important event for our universities. Sport is the best idea to unite us”, Rustam Minnikhanov said.
On 4 May at a briefing held in the Tatarstan Government House it was told that currently there are 92 combat veterans, the last witnesses of the Great Patriotic War (WW II) of 1941-1945, living in the republic. The briefing also informed about veterans’ support measures and how the republic is planning to celebrate the Victory Day on 9 May.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva told that names of 353 Heroes of the Soviet Union from Tatarstan “ are immortalized in street names, on memorials, in monuments and squares and, of course, in our memory”. “The Victory Day is the day of memory, mourning and joy. It is the event which today should be clearly understandable to all young people and younger generation of Tatarstan,” she said.

On 24 April in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin held a joint meeting the Council for Enforcement of Legislation of Languages of Tatarstan and the organizational committee for celebrations of the 140th birthday of Gabdulla Tukay which summarized results of work of the regional law enforcement on official languages of the republic and considered progress of the implementation of the plan of main events for preparation and celebration of the 140th birthday of Gabdulla Tukay .
On 21 April, speaking at a briefing in the Government House of the republic, the Head of the Russian Federal Tax Service for Tatarstan Marat Safiullin said that slightly more than one week is left to file an income tax return for 2025 with the tax service. According to the results of the tax campaign 5.5.bn rubles should come to the regional budget, he said and informed who should submit declarations and who is entitled to benefits.
