Ildar Khalikov: we have to increase the number of people going in for sports

It is important to increase the number of people regularly going in for sports. The republican leadership and heads of municipalities have to work on this issue. Such information was given by Tatarstan PM Ildar Khalikov at a session of final collegium of RT Ministry of youth affairs, sport and tourism.
The event was held in Kazan IT-park with participation of Secretary of Russian Olympic committee Marat Bariev, Deputy Chairman of RT State Council Rimma Ratnikova, heads of ministries and departments.
According to Head of Tatarstan ministry of sport Rafis Burganov more than 9 thousand sport objects with capacity of 228 thousand people are currently functioning in Tatarstan. More than 1 mln Tatarstaners regularly go in for sports (27 % of population). The number of students who devote themselves to sport is 47 %. By 2015 the number of Tatarstaners taking sports is expected to make 35 %. 25 big Russian and international test competitions within preparation for Universiade-2013 have been held in 2011.
Funding of a target program “Development of physical culture and sport in the Republic of Tatarstan” has made 1,02 bln roubles in 2011.
Speaking about preparation of professional sportsmen for the forthcoming Olympic Games in London Rafis Burganov marked currently only 17 of 32 kinds of sport defined in Tatarstan as basic are being funded. Thus, Rafis Burganov addressed Ildar Khalikov with request to provide financial support of other 15 kinds of sport.
Head of Universiade directorate Vladimir Leonov informed about the process of organizational preparation for World summer student games – 2013. He told about transport program, accommodation of guests and participants of the Games, catering program. According to Head of Directorate distribution of invitations for participation in Universiade-2013 to the countries will be started in June 2012.
Tatarstan PM Ildar Khalikov focused on importance to increase the number of Tatarstaners regularly going in for sports. He also encouraged to develop student sport as the basis of mass sport movement. Ildar Khalikov also paid attention to small number of handicapped people taking sports.
The PM reminded there are other tasks RT Ministry of youth affairs, sport and tourism faces, - preparation for other big sport events , i.e World championship on water sports and World football championship. He noted as well with regret inefficient rates of training of sportsmen of elite sport, first of all potential participants of Olympic Games - 2012.
The PM promised to consider the request of the Minister of youth affairs, sport and tourism about funding of target preparation of sportsmen for major competitions.
Ildar Khalikov separately focused on the issue of maintenance of functioning sport objects.
Head of Tatarstan Government reminded about wide range of problems to be solved in the context of preparation for Universiade including Internet promotion, ensuring necessary level of service.
Ildar Khalikov addressed RT Ministry of youth affairs, sport and tourism with requirement to develop and implement a special program on teaching foreign languages to service employees. He suggested using Bolgar and Sviyazhsk as the site for implementation and testing of new tourism technologies, by involving consultants and adopting foreign experience.
On 12 April in his address to residents of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated them with the Space Exploration Day and said: “April 12, 1961 has forever been inscribed into the world history as the day of triumph of the Soviet science and engineering thought. The flight of Yuriy Gagarin opened the way to the stars for the humankind and demonstrated to the whole world the might of our country.
On 4 April , speaking at a closing ceremony of the XX Russian Venture Forum held at the Kazan Expo Exhibition Center, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the Russian Venture Forum has confirmed its status of the point of attraction of technological development leaders.
The Forum created a unified scientific, technological and investment space where scientific ideas are transformed into competitive products, and startups gain access to capital and markets. Its business programme is organically integrated into the regional and federal agenda for achieving technological sovereignty and leadership of Russia, he said.
On 1 April Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Russian Minister of Healthcare Mikhail Murashko introduced Ayrat Farrakhov, who was appointed the Acting Rector of Kazan State Medical University (KSMU) to its staff.
In his speech Mikhail Murashko emphasized that today KSMU is rightfully considered one of the most respected in the country and said:”Ayrat (Zakievich) has been officially appointed the Acting Rector and I am sure that under his leadership the University will maintain the positions it has achieved and, of course, will continue its development.”
On 31 March in the Government House of the republic Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva hold a meeting of the Commission on the Russian language under the Rais of Tatarstan, which considered key issues of supporting and developing Russian language, including new educational initiatives and discussed programmes of popularization of Russian literature and activities to preserve the language heritage.
