On September 28, Meeting of Tatarstan Government Commission for road safety with participation of Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Shamil Gafarov, Deputy Minister of Transport and Roads of the republic Artem Chukin and Chief State Road Safety Inspector of the republic Lenar Gabdurakhmanov was held in Leninogorsk.
Gabdurakhanov noted that there is a tendency on reducing the number of road accidents, people killed and injured in them in Tatarstan.
“According to the results of eight months of the current year, the number of road accidents decreased by 100 facts, the number of deaths by 52 people and injured by 80 people,” he reported.
Chief Inspector of the republic stressed that the main causes of road accidents still remain gross violations of traffic rules by drivers, in particular, violations of the rules governing pedestrian crossings and crossing over into the lane of oncoming traffic and violation of the rules of crossing the road by pedestrians.
Gabdurakhanov summed up the preliminary results of the execution of the Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Tatarstan on elimination of 128 emergency and dangerous areas of the road network. He noted that on the roads of federal and regional importance the work has already been completed and urged the municipalities of the republic to intensify their efforts to eliminate the shortcomings on the roads of local importance.
