Rustam Minnikhanov acquaints with activity of SES company in Luxemburg

Delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan led by the President Rustam Minnikhanov has visited the Centre of telecommunication management of SES, the biggest satellite company in Europe.
To the point, the Tatarstan delegation led by Rustam Minnikhanov is now in the Grand Duchy of Luxemburg on a short-term working trip (April 9-10, 2012).
The presentation of SES company was organized for the guests. Tatarstan officials accompanied by the company executives also viewed equipment used by SES for providing satellite telecommunication services to broadcasters, Internet providers, operators of mobile and immobile communication and government organizations.
Today, SES is the leading world satellite operator with 50 geostationary satellites. The company was founded in 1985 with the HQ in Luxemburg called Société Européenne des Satellites. In 2001 the name changed for SES Global, since 2006 the company is called SES.
In 2011, different companies comprising the SES group (SES ASTRA, SES World Skies, SES Americom) joined under the single management and brand SES. Regional branches of the company can be found all over the world.
Rustam Minnikhanov acquainted with activity of the Centre of telecommunication management and left a note in the Book of distinguished guests. He marked that experience of SES company can be useful for Tatarstan.
RT Minister of informatization and communications Nikolai Nikiforov noted that the company’s experience is interesting for Tatarstan in terms of organization of rebroadcasting of TV channel "TNV" (“Tatarstan-Novy Vek”) all over the world. Besides, SES offers new Internet technologies for those settlements which face difficulties with laying of the optic fiber.
The delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan was accompanied by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in Luxemburg Alexandr Shulygin and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Luxemburg in Russia Pierre Ferring.
The Tatarstan delegation consists of Director of the Department for external relations – Aide to RT President on international issues Iskander Muflikhanov, Chief of the RT Investment Development Agency Linar Yakupov, Board chairman of OAO Ak Bars Bank Robert Minnegaliev, first vice Minister of industry and trade Igor Nosov, Tatarstan official in Czech and Slovak Republics Zufar Abdulgaleev.
On March 10, the third meeting of the organizing committee on preparation and holding of the 20th anniversary Russian Venture Forum 2026 to be held in Kazan from April 8 to 10, chaired by Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov and with participation of Tatarstan Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and co-chair of the forum’s organizing committee Aleksey Pesoshin, President of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan Rifkat Minnikhanov, Director of the Investment and Venture Fund of Tatarstan Damir Galiev as well as representatives of federal and regional authorities, development institutions and partner organizations via videoconference, took place.
On 10 March, speaking at a briefing dedicated to the development of the national Max messenger in Tatarstan and held in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Digitalization of Public Administration, Information Technologies and Communication of the republic Ilya Nachvin informed that according to the data of March 2026 about 1.5m residents of Tatarstan use domestic Max messenger.
On 5 February Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in ceremony of awarding winners of the regional competition “The Woman of the Year. The Man of the Year: A Woman’s View” held at the Korston Leisure and Recreation Center in Kazan.
On 4 March at a briefing in the Government House of the republic Tatarstan Minister of Land and Property Relation Fanil Agliullin told about changes in land legislation enforced from 1 March of the current year. He said that they simplify a number of procedures for land plot owners including expanding the possibilities for land use and changing the rules for changing the category of a plot.
