Rustam Minnikhanov visits “Volkswagen” plant in Kaluga

The Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov has visited the stamping enterprise JE “Gestamp – Severstal” and “Volkswagen” auto plant during his working trip to the Kaluga oblast. Head of republic was accompanied by the Governor of the oblast Anatoly Artamonov.
The Spanish company Gestamp holds 75% of shares of the Joint Enterprise “Gestamp – Severstal”, the Russian Severstal - 25% of shares. Stamped parts for auto bodies are produced at the plant located in the industrial park “Grabtsevo”.
It was initially constructed for servicing the adjacent “Volkswagen” plant. The amount of investments made 90 mln euros, the volume of output – 13 mln stamped parts per year. Besides the whole body of Volkswagen Polo Sedan, some parts for Renault Duster, Lada Largus are now produced at the enterprise.
Deliveries of parts to the plant Peugeot – Citroёn – Mitsubishi in the Kaluga oblast will be organized in the nearest time. Therefore, new stamping line was installed at the plant and volume of output was increased.
According to the Chief of Investment Development Agency Linar Yakupov, the Spanish company Gestamp intends to launch similar production in Tatarstan to deliver parts to KAMAZ and JE Ford – Sollers. The agreement was signed at the last St. Petersburg economic forum. Currently the company is choosing the place for the plant.
Members of the Tatarstan delegation also visited “Volkswagen” auto plant. Four models of the German concern are produced at the plant - Skoda Octavia, Skoda Fabia, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Volkswagen Polo Sedan. Total amount of investments in launching the production made 774 mln euros. 5642 people work at the plant.
On 15 December, speaking at a meeting of the competition committee of the regional public competition “The Manager of the Year” about its results in 2025, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the list of 155 participants (nominees), who are heads of enterprises and organizations from various industries and sectors of the economy, for the competition was formed based on recommendations from regional ministries and departments, city and district municipalities, employers' associations and the Federation of Trade Unions of the republic.
On 6 December speaking at a regional meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatullin reported about progress in implementation of the of multi-apartment houses capital overhaul programme.
On 5 December, congratulating volunteers with the International Volunteers Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva wrote in her address: “
Your boundless kindness, sincere desire to help others and active civic position deserve special recognition and deep gratitude. There are over 5,000 volunteer associations operating successfully in Tatarstan, with a total membership of over 220,000 caring people of all ages and professions. Every year the contribution of volunteers into public life of the republic becomes more noticeable.
On 4 December Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, took part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic being held at the Kazan Aircraft University on 4-6 December with participation of more than 100 people and more than 40 experts in politics, economy, science, education and industry from all over Russia.
