President of Tatarstan inspects Universiade routes beautification projects

Building facades pedestrian areas are planned to be renovated.

President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov on Sunday made a working trip around the streets included in the 2103 Universiade route list. He was accompanied by mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, construction minister Irek Faizullin, transport minister Lenar Safin and city’s Executive Committee head Alexei Pesoshin.

President of Tatarstan was presented projects aimed to beautify the Universiade routes. In particular, building facades and pedestrian areas are planned to be renovated. The asphalt surfacing on the central streets needs to be fully renewed, R. Minnikhanov said.

The governor visited a railway station under construction on the Vorovsky street. He inspected the site and demanded the adjacent area was beautified.

“A passenger needs to be able to freely walk out of the station and to the public transportation stop,” R. Minnikhanov said. “Since we are launching traffic, conditions for passengers need to be provided.”

The facades of the residential buildings near the station need to be tidied up, he said.

People living in six unfit for living buildings on the Esperanto and Pavlukhina streets asked R. Minnikhanov when they were supposed to move in new housing, to which the governor said the authorities were considering various resettling options, since the buildings were on a Universiade route.

In conclusion, R. Minnikhanov visited a sports arena at an international equestrian facility, the President of Tatarstan’s press service reports.
