Celebration of Sabantui takes place in Istanbul

President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov attended Sabantui celebrations in Istanbul during his official visit to Turkey. The concert with elements of the Tatar holiday performed by the Tatarstan masters of art took place at one of the main city squares, – Sultanahmet square.

The Mayor of Istanbul Kadir Topbaş and Rustam Minnikhanov welcomed guests of the holiday. The Tatarstan President reminded that Sabantui is a favourite holiday of the Tatar people, it is celebrated in every village, region and town of Tatarstan. Sabantui is also held in 52 Russian regions.

The itinerary of official visit of the RT President to Turkey finished in Dolmabahce Palace- the Residence of Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic and one of main places of interest in Istanbul. This historical object was built in XIX. It is the last palace constructed for Turkish sultans of the Ottoman Dynasty. When Turkey obtained the republican status, Dolmabahce Palace became the official residence of the first country’s president - Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Having seen halls of the palace, Rustam Minnikhanov left a note in the book of distinguished guests.

During the meeting of the Tatarstan President and Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic Tayyip Erdoğan the parties summarized the official visit of the Tatarstan delegation. Rustam Minnikhanov thanked the Turkish leadership for warm reception and kind-hearted attitude during the visit.
